The painting has Christ at the center surrounded by many people, who must choose between the well-being Christ offers and the darkness that the devil tries to insert into their lives. Artist Piety poses an existential question through this artwork: Which path will you choose? Christ guides us out of spiritual and physical ills and illnesses, for he is our healer and savior. In this scene in which Christ directs our gaze to light, the unwholesome alternative lurks behind the shadow that can pull us away from Christ into darkness. The strained torsos and stretched arms next to Christ compel us to turn to Christ. Christ's open arms are ever ready to receive anyone who seeks light and well-being.—Piety Choi
